About airconditioning units?

Question: About airconditioning units?

(Posted by: meryl on 2007-11-09 00:11:22)

Will I save electricity if I turn off the aircon while im out of the room then turn it on when I come back or is better to just leave it on? For example, I have to eat dinner. This s very important because i have been arguing with my grandmother about this.. hahaha..(^^, )

YOU should leave the air conditioner on until you have completed the "use " of your air conditioning unit.

I had argued alot about this and my answer is turn it off or set it to 78 -82 , unless you got alot of money.

An AC uses the same amount electricity per minute, regardless of how hot the room is. The only thing that matters is the total number of hours the AC is on per day. You need to do some experiments to answer your question. 1. If the room is allowed to get hot, how long does it take for the AC to cool the room down? 2. If the AC is left on all day (and subsequently turns itself on/ off), what is the total amount of time it's actually running? Depending on your answers for 1 and 2 above, you'll know which is most efficient.
